Parabens  as preservatives have an important function: They protect products from spoilage due to microbial action. Parabens can also be found in blueberries, carrots or mangos. From a scientific view, these ingredients are perfectly safe in the product categories where we employ them. Moreover, all our Schwarzkopf Beauty products have been extensively tested before they are placed on the market.

The development of cosmetic products according to “gluten free” criteria is not part of our strategy. Generally, we do not use gluten or botanical materials containing gluten in our cosmetic products. Nevertheless, we cannot exclude, that some plant derived ingredients, e.g. hydrolysed wheat protein, may contain traces of gluten .

Scientifically, there is no reason to stop coloring your hair during pregnancy, since the safety of hair colorants during pregnancy is already considered at the product development stage. However, you should remember that, during pregnancy and breast feeding, the body may react more sensitively to external influences. If you are in doubt about your own personal situation, please consult a dermatologist before using a hair colorant.

Herbal hair colors are deposited on the outside of the hair and seal the hair structure. Conventional coloration, on the other hand, opens the hair and deposits the color pigments inside the hair. A penetration of this seal is very difficult for the coloration and is not always achieved. Herbal hair dyes could also often contain the smallest amounts of metal impurities, which can react with an oxidative coloration, so that here too there is an undesired color result. For these reasons, we generally advise against coloring hair that has been treated with herbal hair colors with an oxidative coloration. I recommend that you seek the advice of the manufacturer of the herbal hair color, or take a possible recommendation from the instructions for use of the plant color. Experience has shown that specific information is usually given here as to whether, when and how henna can be used for coloring after or before an oxidative coloration.

There are only two possibilities here: Either the color was not applied evenly or the hair already had an uneven basis in advance, be it in terms of color or hair structure. Usually too little color was used so that it was not possible to distribute it evenly. One pack is usually sufficient for a maximum of shoulder-length hair.

If the hair is very thick or longer than shoulder length, you will need 2 or more packs to get a satisfactory result.

Yes! Products that explicitly state that they can be used on a daily basis can be used on a daily basis. If you are using hairspray or gel, you should brush the styling products well before bed.

If you blow dry your hair or treat it with a straightener, you can use special heat sprays.

Most mousse are emptied upside down. Few variants have a different system and are emptied upright. You will always find a hint about this on the product itself. However, it is always important: Shake the can well before use so that the propellant gas mixes with the mousse liquid in the correct proportion. This means that the mousse can be emptied down to the last residue.

Special volume products help you to give your hair more volume. The appropriate care products optimally prepare your hair for it. With the subsequent styling you can give the hair real volume again. A mousse or a hair dryer spray will help you best with volume styling. To do this, distribute the mousse or spray from the roots to the lengths and ends. Here, however, it is essential to blow-dry and style the hair accordingly.

When blow-drying, make sure to always brush the hair against the grain, this creates more volume at the roots. The hair, which is then still warm with a hairdryer, can then be twisted onto large Velcro rollers.

The wrap should be slightly tensioned at the base and twisted up to the base, so you get stand and volume at the base. Put a touch of hairspray over it, blow-dry again briefly and warm and let cool for a few minutes. If you then take out the curlers and either loosen them up with your fingers or brush them overhead again, you have great volume. Apply hairspray and you're done.

Basic rule: not too hot and do not blow-dry the already dry hair for too long, otherwise the hair will dry out and start to "fly". Always let the blow dryer go from the hair root to the tip of the hair, so the cuticle of the hair is smoothed and a great shine is created.

In the styling area there are special products for curly hair. They help that the hair structure is smoothed and the curls come out better - without sticking together.

Curly hair is usually drier, so this hair can tolerate more care. Many curly haired heads get along well with a hair oil that can be used in both damp and dry hair for definition and shine.

It is up to your hair structure whether it makes sense to use a conditioner. If your hair is colored or lightened, we recommend using a conditioner. Conditioner is also useful for longer hair or a dry hair structure. The conditioner causes the outer cuticle of the hair to be applied so that the hair becomes less tangled, light can be reflected (shine is created) and possible color pigments are better protected by previous coloring. By making it easier to comb, the hair is less stressed and there is no damage to the outer cuticle. The conditioner also has to be applied less to the roots and more to the lengths and ends.

The range of hair treatments and their application has become more and more individual over time. From the daily hair conditioner, quick cures with only 1 minute exposure time, hair treatments as spray or cream variants that do not have to be rinsed out, to intensive cures that work for a few minutes and then have to be rinsed out.

Quick cures and cures that stay in the hair can be used after each hair wash. Intensive cures that have to be rinsed out again can be used 1 to 2 times a week. How often you use which treatment ultimately depends on the care needs of your hair.

This is quite common especially for the styling area. In the field of hair care, however, it makes sense to use different products from the same series, as they have the same technology and basis, which leads to an optimal end result.

There are many factors that can lead to frizz: excessive heat styling, humidity, excessive brushing, and hair damaged by too much chemical treatments.

It is important to always take good care of your hair. Using styling products such as setting mousse and hairspray can reduce frizz in the hair caused by humidity.

For long hair it is best to use a wide-toothed comb. It is best to start at the ends of your hair and slowly comb your hair higher and higher. With longer hair and / or heavily knotted hair, it is best to use an additional spray treatment, this is not rinsed out and makes combing easier.

Lather the shampoo in your hand with a little water and distribute it into well-moistened hair. Gently massage the scalp. With long hair, it is sufficient to shampoo the scalp. The foam that runs through the hair when rinsing is usually sufficient for cleaning the lengths and ends. The shampoo should always be rinsed out well. If the hair feels "squeaky", it's clean.
